About the Hackathon
Fraud Prevention
Sometimes, certain listed companies issue misleading or false corporate announcements on stock exchanges, ultimately leading to investment by retail investors based on false narratives and market manipulation.
Problem: Fraudsters employ a range of deceptive tactics to exploit or mislead investors. Some examples include: deepfake videos/audios, exploiting WhatsApp/Telegram for manipulation, posing as registered intermediaries, and fake trading apps.
Outcome: Develop a tool/solution to help prevent one or more types of such frauds. Examples: App scanning online platforms, social media monitoring solution, or an application to ingest and cross-verify corporate announcements.
Context: Aligned with SEBI’s Safe space initiative to protect retail investors from fraud in securities market.
Enhancing Retail Investor Education and Engagement
Problem: Many retail investors lack knowledge to navigate the market. Lack of educative material in vernacular languages.
Outcome: Develop an interactive app related to stock market basics, risk assessment, algo trading, etc., or a prototype for translating/summarizing material into vernacular languages.
Context: Inspired by SEBI’s push for investor education and financial literacy.
Improving Liquidity in Bond Markets
Problem: Corporate bonds often face low trading volumes.
Desired Outcome: A functional prototype that enhances trading activity and transparency. Tokenisation based solutions are also invited.
Context: Draws from challenges in increasing liquidity of corporate bond markets in India.

Problem: Small & Medium size brokers face challenges in deploying systems for compliance and client behavior monitoring.
Desired Outcome: A low-cost tool/service for measuring overall performance including business assessment, compliance, surveillance, and reporting.
Context: Ease of doing compliance and effective surveillance by Small/Mid-size brokers.
